hair spa, hair spa at home, hair spa treatment, hair spa tips, natural hair spa, ayurvedic hair spaMassage the scalp nicely with warm olive oil to relax for about 15-20 minutes. Once you are done with oiling, just wrap a towel dipped in warm water around your head. The idea is to provide steam to your hair. Make sure the towel is well squeezed with no dripping water droplets. The steam provided to hair helps in penetrating the oil within the scalp.

Shampooing
The next step in this hair spa procedure is shampooing. It is better if the first step is done at night and the oil is left as it is overnight. Though in case you don't want to keep the oiled hair overnight just shampoo them well with a mild natural shampoo after 2-3 hours. Try not to rub the scalp with shampoo and make sure you use luke warm water to wash the hair. The hair needs to be rinsed well with lots of water.
Conditioning

Next condition the hair with a suitable conditioner. It would be better to use a herbal hair conditioner than a chemical laden one. Rinse the conditioner well till the excess of slipperiness is gone. To make sure that every hair strand is conditioned, make small sections of hair to apply conditioner.

Applying Hair Mask
Now in the last step you would need to apply hair mask for nourishing the hair. There are numerous herbal hair masks available in market these days. Though, you can make hair masks at home too. Check out some of the hair masks here:
Egg and Oil Hair Mask
Make a well beaten mixture of 2 eggs and 6 spoonfuls of coconut oil. Whisk it thoroughly to get a smooth mixture. Apply this mixture on scalp with the help of fingers. The heat produced by the friction of fingers while massaging would help the oil penetrate deep into the scalp thus, nourishing the hair. Cover the hair after applying it evenly all over the head rinse it off with a herbal shampoo after 20 minutes.
Banana and Milk Hair Mask
Mix one mashed banana with one beaten egg, 2 tablespoons of honey, 3 tablespoons of milk and 5 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix all together thoroughly to get a smooth mixture. Apply it evenly all over the head and wash it thoroughly with a herbal shampoo after half an hour. What you'll get is a shiny and healthy mane!

Mayonnaise and Honey Hair Mask
Take half a cup of mayonnaise and mix it well with two tablespoons of honey. Use a blender to whip itinto a smooth cream like form. Apply generously all over the head and than wash it off using a mild shampoo. This one is a wonderful hair mask conditioner.

Tomatoes may 'help keep skin young' and protect against sunburn

No need to waste your money on buying expensive skin creams.

Scientists say tomatoes may provide the best defence to keeping skin looking young and safe from sun damage.
Tests has shown that eating tomato paste could help protect against sunburn and skin ageing caused by sunlight exposure.
The age-defying ingredient is lycopene - the natural pigment that makes tomatoes red - with highest levels found in processed or cooked tomatoes used in ketchup, paste, soup and juice.
In the study, women eating a diet rich in processed tomatoes had increased skin protection, as seen by a reduction in skin redness and less DNA damage from ultraviolet (UV) exposure.
Researchers compared the skin of 20 women, half of whom were given five tablespoons (55g) of standard tomato paste with 10g of olive oil every day for 12 weeks.
The effects on their skin were compared with the remaining volunteers, aged between 21 and 47, eating just olive oil for the same length of time.
The volunteers were exposed to UV rays found in sunlight at the beginning and end of the trial.
The researchers found significant improvement in the skin's ability to protect itself against UV among those eating tomato paste.
Compared with the other women, the tomato-eating group had 33 per cent more protection against sunburn in the form of less redness.
The researchers calculated that protection offered by the tomato paste to be equivalent to a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 1.3.
Skin samples taken from groups before and after trial showed an increase in levels of procollagen, a molecule which gives skin its structure and loss of which leads to skin ageing and lack of elasticity.
There was also less damage to mitochondrial DNA in the skin, which is also linked to skin ageing.
Dermatology scientist Prof Mark Birch-Machin from Newcastle University said the tomato paste eaten was not overly excessive, but the amount that would be consumed from a lot of tomato-based meals.

"Eating tomatoes will not make you invincible in the sun but it may be a useful addition to sun protection along with sunscreen, shade and clothing," he said.
"The protective effect of eating tomatoes on our mitochondria is important as they are the energy producers in all our body cells including skin. Therefore being kind to our mitochondria is likely to contribute to improved skin health, which in turn may have an anti-ageing effect," he added.

5 Super Effective Tips To Kill Depression

Being lonely is a normal part of our everyday lives. We get sad when we fail in our exams, when we're rejected by the person we love, or when someone very close to us passes away. Depression, however, could be more fatal than just plain loneliness. It could render life-long consequences that could ruin your self-esteem, health, and well-being.

Here are some superb tips to conquer the melancholy mood and get the most bliss out of your daily activities.

1) Get Enough Light and Sunshine.

Lack of exposure to sunlight is responsible for the secretion of the hormone melatonin, which could trigger a dispirited mood and a lethargic condition.

Melatonin is only produced in the dark. It lowers the body temperature and makes you feel sluggish. If you are always cooped up in your room (with the curtains closed), it would be difficult to restrain yourself from staying in bed.

This is the reason why many people are suffering from depression much more often in winter than in the other seasons. It's because the nights are longer.

If you can't afford to get some sunshine, you can always lighten up your room with brighter lights. Have lunch outside the office. Take frequent walks instead of driving your car over short distances.

2) Get Busy. Get Inspired.

You'll be more likely to overcome any feeling of depression if you are too busy to notice it. Live a life full of inspired activities.

Do the things you love. If you're a little short on cash, you could engage in simple stuffs like taking a leisurely stroll in the park, playing sports, reading books, or engaging in any activity that you have passion for and would love to pursue.

Set a goal - a meaningful purpose in life. No matter how difficult or discouraging life can be, remain firm and have an unshakable belief that you are capable of doing anything you desire. With this kind of positive attitude, you will attain a cheerful disposition to beat the blues.

3) Take a Break.

I mean it.

Listen to soothing music. Soak in a nice warm bath. Ask one of your close friends to massage you. Take a break from your stressful workload and spend the day just goofing around. In other words, have fun.

4) Eat Right and Stay Fit.

Avoid foods with lots of sugar, caffeine, or alcohol. Sugar and caffeine may give you a brief moment of energy; but they would later bring about anxiety , tension, and internal problems. Alcohol is a depressant. Many people would drink alcohol to "forget their problems." They're just aggravating their conditions in the process.

Exercising regularly is a vital depression buster because it allows your body to produce more endorphins than usual. Endorphins are sometimes called "the happy chemicals" because of their stress-reducing and happiness-inducing properties.

5) Get a Social Life.

No man is an island. Your circle of friends are there to give you moral support. Spending time and engaging in worthwhile activities with them could give you a very satisfying feeling. Nothing feels better than having group support.

Never underestimate the power of touch. Doesn't it feel so good when someone pats you on the back and gives you words of encouragement during your most challenging times? Hug or embrace someone today. You'll never know when you have saved another life.

Get intimate. Establish close ties with your family and friends. The love and care expressed by others could tremendously boost your immune system and fend off illnesses. Best of all, you'll live a more secured and happy life.
